........YOU........

What type of work do you make?
-I dabble in many different mediums. I work in Ceramics mainly for my sculpture, but also work in fabric and make soft sculptures. In printmaking I work with relief prints using wood or linoleum blocks. I am also an oil and acrylic painter as well as ink drawer. I really enjoy using a variety of different mediums to create my works.

What words best describe this work? (10 or more descriptive terms)
-I do not take my work too seriously, I see everything as a rough image of sketch even though it is a complete piece. I enjoy making fun pieces, but I also enjoy making intense kind of gross and creepy things. Laughable, Intense, Dynamic, Curious, Sexual, Chunky, Quick, Relief

What skills do you have to earn money besides selling your work (computer skills, photography, mechanic, singer, chef etc?)
- I am very personable and work well with other people. I have many service skills that I have relied on in the past to create in income. Secretarial skills, leadership and children's art and programming skills.

Where have you shown your work publicly?
-I have mainly shown in the school setting, there is a niche that my work fits into where some of it isn't necessarily appropriate to show in non adult settings.

Where would you like to show your work? (locally, nationally and internationally?)
-I enjoy having my work shown in the school environment. I would not mind it being shown in galleries locally, nationally, or internationally. I have never really pursued to show my works outside of school.

If you were going to group your professional friends/contacts into distinct networks, what would those be?
- I would have a network for the connections that I have made in the time that I have worked with the Children's Museum and other Museums and keep those contacts together. I would also keep a separate list of my professional art friends and professors.

What kinds of art or communities of practitioners do you track? (e.g. experimental architecture, noise music, fashion designers, figure painters, video art...etc.)
- I look around and find different artists working in different mediums, but there are no artists that I track on a regular basis.

How do you track them (blogs, lists, magazines, books, websites) – List: Blogs, websites, and magazines.

Do you feel that you are now (or want to be in the future) a part of any “scenes” or communities? List: It would be nice to be a part of a ceramics or printmaking guild.

What opportunities (schools, grants, exhibitions, competitions) have you applied to in the past? List: Competitions in high school, and then when applying for colleges I applied to Fine Art Programs around the country.

Who are several related artists that you admire? Tip Toland (ceramics), Tom Huck (print), Alyssa Monks(painting)

Who funds their work? Tip Toland: Grants, Also teaching and instructing workshops. Tom Huck:Selling prints, teaching workshops. Alyssa Monks:Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant for Painting.

What makes them successful? Marketing of their work and their craftsmanship and talent. Also their works can be enjoyed by a large audience.

What do they do to earn money outside of their artwork? N/A I could not find any resources to answer this question.

Who is the public for their artwork (Who sees it, enjoys it, collects it, talks about it?) – List: Art Students, Art consumers. These artists have very fine works that appeal to many audiences. These artists appeal to the casual art viewer as well as the critical artist.

List: Tip Toland is associated with many different programs,University of WA, Gage Academy,Louisiana State University,Montana State University. Alyssa Monks: represented by David Klein Gallery. Have you tried to contact them and how would you do it?
- I friended Tip Toland on Facebook, but that is about as far as I have gotten in communicating with them. I do not think I would exactly know how to approach it except for sending them questions about their processes or current works.
